Becoming More: The Core Evolution of Self

Every day, you’re building something. Even if you don’t realize it, your thoughts, choices, and experiences are shaping the architecture of your inner world.

Do you think anything would work out better for you if you were building and shaping your inner self on purpose?

What if you could design your self-awareness the way an architect draws a blueprint—intentionally, beautifully, and with a plan to evolve?

None of us is ever "fully built"—life is a process, and doing it well means accepting that you’ll always be under renovation in some way. The question is: who are you building?

This post offers a method for discovering that. It starts simple: with a journal.

If you already have a journal you’re ready to start laying out your blueprint. This is the process of building yourself. Your first tool is your journal– and if you don’t keep a journal, this super simple exercise will make it incredibly easy to start one with a purpose built in. All you need is something to write with and a sincere motivation to look at yourself as an honest observer. You are at the core of your own evolution. Your journal is what we will use to draft the blueprint showing the layout of that core at a glance.

Who are you?   Lets find out.

✍️ Step One: Journal — Record the Raw Material

Writing in a journal is ancient, tired advice—and for good reason. It’s one of the most consistently effective tools for personal clarity and transformation.

You don’t need to do it a special way. You just need to do it. Grab a notebook. Write down what happened and what you think about it. Keep it honest. Keep it simple.

Ask Yourself: “What am I working toward in life today? What happened that I might want to look back on to help me get there?”

Your only job at this stage is to notice yourself.

🪞 Step Two: Reflect — Observe the Patterns

Come back to what you’ve written. Wait a few days. Read it again—slowly. This is your second tool: intentional reflection.

This is where the architecture starts to reveal itself. You’ll start to see what repeats.

Do you make the same kind of choice in every conflict? Do you use the same phrases when you're inspired? Are there recurring emotions? Familiar setbacks?

Your journal will show you the cycles in your thinking and behavior. From there, you can begin to decide what to maintain, evolve, or disrupt.

Ask yourself: "What keeps showing up in how I think, feel, or react?”

Then ask yourself: "How is that actually working out for me?

🧱 Step Three: Structure — Draft Your Core Blueprint

Now we shape what we’ve seen.

We introduce the Dynamo Triad—a symbolic pattern-spotting model for understanding your own identity more clearly. It has three parts:

  • Identity: Who am I becoming?
  • Growth: How do I evolve?
  • Continuity: What part of me stays with me?

Each module includes symbolic archetypes—six for each—that represent common patterns. Your job is to get started by choosing one from each module that resonates with your own experience, then write down your answers to the questions for that symbol in your journal (scroll down look at the worksheet, try it out). Once you've answered the questions for that symbol: that symbol then represents that pattern in your behavior– its a visual shortcut you're cheating on the test! Do another symbol every day until you have done them all. Now we use those symbols as little flags to create a visual map of our behavior in our journals.

So you’ve identified patterns in your thinking and you have a symbol shorthand for each: start applying them to your journal reflections.

Make yourself a key– write out the symbols straight down the left side of a page, and use your answers from the worksheet to boil down the key words from each questionnaire answer, and write the key words next to the symbol. Use this Symbol Key as a bookmark in your journal to keep it handy as you reflect.

Then give yourself time– Saturday, Sunday whenever you like to collect yourself, to also review your journal for the past week and decide how the coming week will go. As you read your journal you will see these patterns show up. Highlight the lines in your journal entries that ring true with the patterns you’ve identified, and mark those lines in your journal with the symbol for that pattern. Use the Symbol Key you wrote out to purposefully go though and flag the patterns. That will give you a whole new view of yourself by looking through your stories at just the patterns in your behavior– at a glance. Use these patterns to track the behaviors that move you forward—and the ones that hold you back.

You’ll find the full worksheet below. Use it like a guided journal. Pick one symbol a day. Write. Discover. Repeat.

That’s it. You’re now drafting your architecture.

Each of these modules is made up of five core truths about who you are, and one thing to pay attention to in every reflection– each truth will connect to a symbol, an abbreviation for your patterns to help you mark them out in your journal and see them at a glance. Below you’ll find a worksheet where each symbol is explained, and paired with a reflective question to help you define what that symbol means to you.

Your task: Pick one symbol for each category. Answer its question in your journal. That’s it. You’ve begun to build your architecture.

🧭 Step Four: Evolve — Use the Blueprint to Build

The Dynamo Triad gives you a map of your self, the symbols turn each page of your journal into a visual graph of who you are inside. You’ll begin to recognize what’s working, what’s not, and most importantly:

What’s next for me, based on who I am and where I’ve been?

Then:

How can I choose a way forward from where I am now, that brings me closer to who I want to become?

This is the path of becoming more—not by guessing who you are, but by choosing it. Again and again, witch each review.

Welcome to your build. You’re not guessing what to build. You’re choosing.

Print the worksheet, fill it in, and share your Triad with someone you trust

People who know you will recognize you in it, and might even help you shape it.
